Australia Eases Rules for Temporary Migrant Workers

Here is some good news for temporary migrant workers working in Australia. The government of the Pacific region-based country has announced that for the year 2024-25, the Permanent Migration Program will have 1,85,000 places.

When the Permanent Migration Program was started, it was intended to fulfil the skill shortages in the priority sectors as well as give importance to visa processing of skilled workers in regional Australia.

From 2024-25, the Australian government is going to introduce a visa ballot process for temporary migrant workers who are hailing from China, Vietnam and India.

For this year’s Permanent Migration Program, the 1,85,000 places have been decided to split in a 70:30 ratio between Skilled Stream and Family Stream.

How The Ratio is Working

In the Skilled Stream domain, 1,32,200 places or approximately 71% places of the program have been dedicated. In the program, special focus has been given to fulfilling the skill shortages in the labour market especially in regional Australia.

In the Family Stream domain, 52,500 places or approximately 28% of places of the program have been allocated. The Family Stream is dedicated to partner visas especially for Australians whose partners reside abroad. This visa scheme will ease Permanent Residency for the overseas partners.
